Design Right in the Community

Designs created subsequent to 6th March 2002 may qualify for unregistered Community design right, which is essentially a right to prevent copying.

Such a design is deemed new if no identical design has been publicly available. It exists for a shorter period and may be useful for certain kinds of designs, particularly those with a short shelf life.
