Design Right in the UK
Design right arises in the shape or configuration of an article and is an unregistered right. It is established as soon as a design is recorded or an article is made to the design.
As with copyright, design right allows a party to prevent a third party from copying a work which is subject to design right during the period in which the right subsists.
